Self-care is an intentional mindset to promote your
physical, mental,
and emotional wellbeing.
Before Your Massage
Eat lite. Do not go into your massage on an empty or on an overly stuffed stomach, your relaxation is our ultimate goal.
During Your Massage
Breathe. When your massage therapist is working out a point of tension on your body, the natural reaction is to hold your breath. Try to resist the urge and breathe deeply instead, concentrating on each breath in and out. This will help continue to oxygenate your bloodstream, and allow those tense muscles to relax.
Communicate. No matter how skilled your therapist is, we want and need to know your individual levels of comfort. If the pressure is too deep or not deep enough, please let us know. The therapist’s top priority is your relaxation and healing, we always appreciate your feedback.
After Your Massage
Hydrate. Massage speeds up the lymphatic and circulatory system, allowing waste products to clear out of the body though the digestive system. Drinking plenty of water after your massage will help speed up the detoxification process. For the same reason, you should avoid consuming dehydrating beverages like caffeine and alcohol for at least an hour after your massage.
Stretch. Incorporating regular stretching into your daily routine will allow your muscles to stay healthier, relaxed, lengthened, and will help in preventing injuries. Stretching doesn’t require a yoga mat or special clothing, just your commitment in being proactive and continuing to improve your bodies health.
Hot Soak/Shower. A long hot shower or bath will assist in detoxifying the body after your massage. The warm water will loosen the muscles and calm your mind, bringing the balance needed for complete relaxation. Additionally, Epsom salt, essential oils, and natural oils can be added to relax any muscle soreness you may experience after your massage. Magnesium will absorb into your skin to alleviate muscular aches or pains.
